Aaron Wan-Bissaka could move to a more central position at Premier League club Manchester United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will test out the move before next season
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is thinking about changing Aaron Wan-Bissaka from a right-back to a centre-half at the club.
It is thought Solskjaer will play him in a central position in pre-season matches to see if the star can handle it ahead of the start of the Premier League campaign, according to The Sun.
Diversifying his position will only be good for the star, especially as over the summer United are looking to sign another defender to add another dimension to their team in Kieran Trippier.
The England star is said to have told national teammates he is keen to make the transfer from Atletico Madrid to United happen.
Barnes told BonusCodeBets : “Because he [Wan-Bissaka] is not as good on the ball as the others, he got unfairly overlooked.
“So when we come up against a team like France, that is when you don’t need a marauding player who will be more comfortable whipping in crosses and free-kicks in attacking areas…
“It doesn’t matter if Southgate plays four or five at the back, if you don’t have players who can defend properly, it is immaterial.”
Southgate will have to replace the star and the front runners seem to be Jesse Lingard or James Ward-Prowse.
England will play in another friendly against Romania on Sunday.
The match will be their last before the Euros kick off on June 11 with England’s first group match against Croatia on June 13.
Southgate’s side are aiming to win the tournament for the first time after reaching the semi-finals in 1968 and 1996.
