MTV Base Postpones 2021 MTV Africa Music Awards

MTV Base has postponed the 2021 MTV Africa Music Awards scheduled to take place on 20th of February in Uganda.
MTV Base made a statement on their Social media platform informing expectant fans of the latest development.
“MTV Base is postponing the 2021 MTV Africa Music Awards. We will keep fans updated as we have more news.”
So far, no reason has been given by MTV Base for the postponement of the award show which was announced in November, 2020.
Fans are not happy about this development. They are wondering why a virtual show was postponed and what will happen to their votes for their favourite artist.
The MAMAs was to be hosted by Grammy-winning Producer and DJ, DJ Khaled virtually and broadcasted globally to 180 countries for the first time. The MAMAs Award show is to celebrate outstanding african artists. For MAMA Kampala 2021, MTV Partnered with Uganda’s government to Celebrate African Culture, Music and to encourage the love of Africa music.
This year’s edition featured 20 awards and new awards like Best Lusophone Categories, Best Francophone, MAMA Generation Change Award, Best Fan Base, Alone Together Best Lockdown Performance and Personality of the Year.
African Performers who were to perform virtually at the award show include Wizkid, Sheebah Karungi, Diamond, Platnumz, kaligraph Jones, Suspect 95, Soraia, Naeto C.
