The Polish Ministry of Health has reported another 4,683 new coronavirus infections detected in the past 24 hours. The figure follows the stabilising trend observed in recent weeks, following the peak in November which saw around 25,000 new cases reported daily.
The Ministry also announced that another 110 patients, 88 of which suffered from comorbidities, have passed away due to the disease.
The largest number of registered cases was reported from Mazowieckie Province (687), which includes the capital city Warsaw, while Świętokrzyskie Province in south-central Poland reported the lowest number of cases (81).
14,377 patients are hospitalised due to the virus, of which 1,482 are currently on a ventilator.
1.2 million people have recovered from the disease, while 35,363 fatalities have been recorded.
Poland launched its vaccination programme at the end of December. The programme initially only encompassed medical personnel, residents of nursing homes and the staff working there. Starting Monday, January 25th, people aged 80+ will receive their first ja
